Biography
Ever since his first experience with a toy piano at the young age of 5, Steve Chiu's curiosity with music has developed into a passion expressed through composition, instrumental recital, and vocal performance. A native of Taiwan, Steve moved to the Chicago, IL when he was only six months old. He began taking piano lessons at the age of 9, self taught guitar at 14, and formal music composition/theory at 16.
Though highly influenced by American music, Steve shows a liking toward Asian music, particularly Hong Kong artists Leon Lai and Jackie Cheung, Taiwanese artist Yuki Hsu, and Korean artists Yoo Seung Jun, Uhm Jung Hwa, and H.O.T. Steve has gained experience in vocal performance by singing at the Lunar New Year Festivals at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for four years. He believes that his talent and love for music will enable him to work in the Taiwanese/Hong Kong music industry. Steve Chiu is currently residing in Los Angeles, CA where he is attending UCLA Grad School.
